Health is a foundation for dignity, productivity, and human development. Without access to quality healthcare, families fall deeper into poverty, children miss education, and communities struggle to thrive.
Al-Khair Foundation Kenya, established in July 2012, is committed to improving access to essential, life-saving health services for vulnerable communities across Kenya. Our health programmes focus on addressing critical medical needs, reducing preventable illnesses, and strengthening community-based healthcare solutions.
Our Health Interventions in Kenya
Al-Khair Foundation Kenya implements targeted medical and health outreach programmes designed to reach underserved and hard-to-reach populations. Our key health interventions include:
- Benign tumour surgeries for patients unable to access specialised care
- Cataract operations, restoring sight and independence to patients
- Dental treatment programmes for low-income households
- Male circumcision programmes as a preventive public health measure
- Toto Care Boxes distribution, supporting maternal and newborn health
- Boat ambulance projects to serve island and coastal communities
- Tuk-tuk ambulance projects to improve emergency referrals in informal settlements and rural areas
To date, Al-Khair Foundation Kenya’s health programmes have positively impacted 145,985 individuals, improving health outcomes and restoring dignity to families in need.
Addressing Healthcare Challenges in Kenya
Many communities in Kenya continue to face significant barriers to healthcare, including:
- Limited access to hospitals and health facilities in rural and informal settlements
- Shortage of trained medical professionals and specialists
- High burden of preventable and treatable diseases
- Inadequate access to essential medicines and diagnostic services
- Poor sanitation and limited access to clean water, increasing disease risk
- Low awareness of preventive healthcare and hygiene practices
These challenges disproportionately affect women, children, persons with disabilities, refugees, and the elderly, making community-based health interventions critical.
Our Approach to Health & Well-Being
At Al-Khair Foundation Kenya, healthcare goes beyond treatment. Our approach integrates:
- Preventive and curative medical services
- Maternal, child, and newborn health support
- Community health education and awareness
- Emergency medical response and referrals
By strengthening access to healthcare, we help families remain productive, children stay in school, and communities move toward long-term stability.
“And whoever saves one life – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely.”
(Surah Al-Ma’idah, 5:32)
